We already know that in this blog we are going to talk about geometry, but we can't talk about something we don't know what it is, can we? 馃え
I thought so, so the first question we should ask ourselves before starting the blog is the following: do we know what geometry is?
Well, according to the RAE, it is the "study of the properties and magnitudes of figures in the plane or in space". (Real Academia Espa帽ola, n.d., definition 1).
And although in the definition it may seem that we are talking about complex things, in reality geometry is not so complicated, and can even be fun if you look at it with your eyes open 馃憖 and pay attention, the latter being very important, because although we do not know it, we are surrounded by geometric elements everywhere, even in the moments we least imagine.
Therefore, learning geometry is very important, and I am going to explain why:
Everything we have in our homes and that we use every day is somehow related to geometry. Mobile phones, televisions or any device that we can see for example in the kitchen or on the television have a geometric shape. And not only electronic devices, but tables, chairs or beds are also made taking into account geometric principles that have allowed them to exist.
And not only at home, but we are surrounded by geometry even outside the home, because when we walk down the street, for example, it is not that we can see geometric elements, but we are walking surrounded by geometry. The streets we see and walk on, the buildings that surround us and all their elements. When we say that something has a round, square or triangular shape, we introduce geometry, as these terms belong to this branch of mathematics. That is why we must be aware of the importance of knowing these terms, and all those that we can belonging to the branch of geometry, because thanks to them, we are able to give shape and meaning to our daily lives.
Furthermore, other branches of mathematics must be applied so that the buildings and other constructions we have already mentioned can be built. And for all this to happen, we have to mix geometry with other fields such as algebra, arithmetic or analysis and statistics, which in the end form a whole.
Finally, it is also very important to highlight the role of geometry in awakening and developing certain intelligences such as mathematical logic or visual spatial intelligence, which despite having many possibilities for development, geometry may be perhaps one of the forms that can best or most help in this development.
Therefore, geometry is important in our daily lives, as we live surrounded by it, and it also shapes our lives in some way‼️‼️
