We are back once again! As in the previous post, today I'm going to tell you about a new game, although this one is older than the others we have been working with so far. I'm sure your parents have played it at some point.
It is ... Tetris!
Even if you didn't know the name, I think that after seeing the picture, everyone recognizes this game, otherwise I recommend that as soon as you finish reading the post, you go running to look for it and play for a while, you won't regret it.
Starting with the history of the game, Tetris is a video game created in 1984 by Alexey Pajitnov, and after several years of fighting with different companies for its publication, the game started to become popular, being finally Tetris Company who got the rights of the game, a company founded by Henk Rogers and Pajitnov himself.
Returning to the game, the ultimate goal is to get as many points as possible by joining the different geometric shapes that appear randomly, with the handicap that the screen is limited, so you have to prevent it from collapsing. This is achieved by forming rows by joining the different pieces together.
As for the pieces, they are all regular polygons formed by putting squares together, so there is a very wide variety of possible shapes, although in the original this variety was smaller. Nowadays, not only have more shapes been invented or more options added to the game (such as rotating the pieces and changing their orientation), but also varieties of the game have been invented.
One of these inventions is a game called "Pentonyms", in which the figures are the same as in the original Tetris, with some added. In the game there are two sheets that serve as a guide, and with cards that are given as a guide, sometimes they have to complete the template without leaving any space, and sometimes they have to do it without any guide at all.
Therefore, these are games in which geometric figures are mixed with the development of logical-mathematical and visual-spatial intelligence, allowing us to see beyond and understand things in a different way. Don't you think it's interesting?
And this is the end of today's post, I hope you have learned a little more and that you are encouraged to try these games.
